In 2016, the founders of Trunkrs began with an ambitious idea: individuals could have parcels delivered on their way home, using smart pickup points like gas stations. Their mission? To make delivery faster, more sustainable, and more humane – with more flexibility for consumers and less impact on the environment.
It was a progressive response to the growing need for conscious and efficient last-mile logistics.
While innovative, the crowd-delivery model proved unscalable in practice. Online stores worried: what if a delivery person was late, or a package got lost? The uncertainty surrounding reliability and control prevented the model from resonating with professional buyers.
Trunkrs had the right energy and a clear mission – but the translation into compelling market promises was still lacking.
